Diploma : Civil Engineering

Overview

This is one of the initially established department in the Chandigarh College of Engg. & Technology. The course grooms the students into Civil Engineers of highest professional skills which they need throughout their careers.
The curriculum is constantly reviewed in view of changing demands of the industry. A wide spectrum of subjects are offered and the students are given practical problems in different areas like projects and survey camps. The intensive survey camp training is imparted in difficult terrains in order to familiarize the students with the actual work situations and to attain the competency to solve these problems. The project work is intended to place the students for project oriented practical training as per curriculum.

Most of our faculty comprises of Post Graduates in various fields of Civil Engineering and is capable of maintaining highest standards of technical education. It has maintained pace for updating qualification, publication work in Journals and contributing in seminars and conferences conducted by various professional organizations. Their efforts enable the students to excel in the field.

Good Number of students are selected in reputed construction companies like ACC, L&T, Punj Lloyd etc. through campus placements.

Infrastructure of the Department

HYDRAULICS LAB: One of the vital lab. Of Civil Engg. and Mechanical Engg. dealing with the study of the behavior of liquid at rest as well as in motion under different conditions with equipments are follows :

SURVEY LAB: This lab. is equipped with all survey equipments required for survey camp and practicals in :

• Chain Surveying
• Plane Table Surveying
• Theodolite Surveying
• Leveling
• Compass Surveying
• Curve Setting

SOIL ENGG. LAB: Various practicals in soil engg. to determine the properties of soil are performed in this lab using different apparatus like :

• Unconfined Comp. Test App.
• Shear Test Apparatus
• SPT Test
• Liquid limit etc

HIGHWAY LAB: In the Highway Engg. Lab. following apparatus are used to provide practical knowledge of Material Testing in Highway Engg.

• Penetro meter.
• Ring and Ball Apparatus.
• Impact Testing Machine
• Los Angeles Abrasion Testing Machine.
• CBR Test Apparatus.
