Apratim - Techno Cultural Fest

Carrying on a trend seems to be a great job, but being the bellwether and marking the beginning of a new legacy is the greatest of all!

The day was 7th March when 800 CCET ians did that - together. The clouds of doubt settled, challenges got overcome and we rose like a Pheonix - from the ashes . Apratim 2011, a phoenix in disguise, was not just a fest, but for the students of Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology it was a dream come true .

It was the dream with the fulfilment of which CCET finally stamped its arrival onto the big stage. The blueprint of 'Apratim' was patiently and efficiently formulated. Eighteen teams were made- Infrastructure, Marketing, Publicity, Media Handling and even a First Aid Team. The real preparations kicked off with the Marketing Team meticulously planning the possible hotspots for sponsors in the Tri-City. Eventually the efforts of our Marketing Team started paying dividends even in a lean market. Media Sponsors came first, closely followed by others. The responsibility was big but as they say-"As the going gets tough, the tough get going".

The arrival was announced thirty days before the fest with a Human Chain formation and 'Air & Car Show' in the College Campus. Apratim got ample publicity via newspapers, jingles on radio and interviews on local news channels. The theme of the fest –"Reduce your Carbon Footprint" was very well received by people and grabbed a lot of eyeballs. We wanted to promote a message to conserve our environment, so various activities revolving aroung this theme were conducted - Tree Plantation, Street plays by Dram-e-Baaz (our Dramatics Group), celebration of Road Safety Week in college, distribution of free plant samplings, signature campaigns etc.

After two months of untiring preparation, the day of reckoning finally dawned. The fest saw presence of many VIPs - Finance Minister of Chandigarh, SSP of Chandigarh and others. All the Events be it Technical- like Go Green Go LED, Robo-Olympics, Be the Next Corbusier etc., or Literary- like JAM, GD etc. drew a huge response.

The Mega Nights enchanted everyone with Four Events -Amphetamine (Rock Show), Fashion Show, Flicking Feet (Group Dance) and the final event a grand DJ Nite. The temperature of the cold winter night suddenly rose in the presence DJ Pari from Goa.

The continuous influx of ideas,their implementation, the enthusiasm when we had a far greater cause to work for than sitting in the classes (evil grin), the marketing, the adventures of publicity team, the amalgam of seriousness and fun in the committee room, the frustration when a deal didn't go through and its balancing by the euphoria when it did, the advices from the seniors and so much more became a part of the bitter-sweet memories of Apratim 2011. It took all this and on top of all, the support of the college authorities and now we have etched a name for ourselves in the History of CCET and have created a legacy for our successors to follow.

The phoenix has risen again and this time around we promise to make Apratim bigger and better. Your presence will be awaited in the colossal and magical world that we'll weave together for you to admire. This Halloween, be ready for a spell which will take you on a hayride in our spooky world.
