STC on Web Based Content Development using Moodle

One Week ICT based SHORT TERM COURSE (STP-2016) on Web Based Content Development using Moodle (3rd to 7th October 2016) .

Department of Computer Sc. & Engineering, Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology (Degree Wing), Sector -26, Chandigarh is successfully organized One Week ICT based SHORT TERM COURSE (STP-2016) on Web Based Content Development using Moodle with the support of NITTTR, Chandigarh from 3rd to 7th October 2016 at CCET (Degree Wing) campus, Sector -26, Chandigarh.
In the STP closing ceremony, Prof.( Dr.) M S. Gujral , PrincipalCCET(Deg. Wing.), Prof.( Dr.) Sunil K Singh, FDP Convener & HOD-CSE, CCET, Prof.( Dr.) R.B. Patel CSEdepartment, faculty members and esteemed participants were presented during the closing and valediction function of one week STP.
Prof.( Dr.) M S. Gujral , Principal chief Guest of closing ceremony who congratulated all the participants for successfully participation of one week STP encourage the faculty members to transfer their learning to students in Moodle which is a free and open-source software learning management system. Dr Gujral also emphasis and push the maximum use of this open-source software in the various academic department to manage and digitalize the various data.
Dr Sunil Kr Singh, STP Convener & HOD CSE, thanks to all participants and told there are 24 participants were participated in Web Based Content Development STP through ICT mode from various department of CCET (Degree Wing) Chandigarh. This STP was conducted with support of NITTTR Chandigarh. In this FDP, total 9 expert technical session and labs have been taken by eminent experts of web technologies area to impart knowledge on planning and developing web based content for effective & real time use by various academic purpose.
Dr Sunil K Singh thanked to NITTTR Chandigarh and request to provide similar learning opportunity to all faculty in future also.
All the HODs, Professors, faculty members and esteemed participants were presented during the closing function of this STP.

Come For Code

Come For Code-An Introductory Programming Event

ACM@CCET Student Chapter of Department of Computer Sc. & Engineering, Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology (Degree Wing), Sector -26, Chandigarh organized an introductory event for learning logical aspects of coding and App development known as “Come for Code” for the enlightenment of first year under ACM ( Association of Computing machinery) at CCET-degree wing college campus itself on 2nd September 2015.
Prof. (Dr.) M. S. Gujral, Principal, of CCET (Degree Wing) graced the occasion with his presence and addressed all 1st year students and organising committee members. He emphasized the necessity to keep in touch with the latest technological advancements at the earliest stage of student life. He also said today world is changing everyday and a student should be aware of different happenings of this computer world which can be learn by suitable platform such as ACM. He also acknowledged the effort of ACM student chapter of CSE department for organizing this event.
Dr Sunil Kr Singh HOD & mentor ACM student chapter welcome all First Year students from CSE department. He told such event prove to develop high interest of students in programming skill which will be a huge beneficial for the students in overall academic growth and get them acquainted with the new technological advancement happening around the world.
In this event, a total of 63 CSE first year students participated. The “Come for Code” event contained an interactive tutorial for the development of Android Apps in a Google Chrome extension called “MIT App Inventor”. This extension is an interactive Drag & Drop application to make apps which can be used to make simple android apps and show the different programming paradigms to the fresh minds of students. Students were also introduced to ACM Student Chapter and its machinery. Students showed high enthusiasm for the event.

In this FDP, total 13 expert technical session and labs have been taken by eminent experts of web technologies area to impart knowledge to them on planning and developing secure web platform for effective & real time use by various partners.

A Programming Hackathon" on 23-24 Nov. 2015.

ACM@CCET Student Chapter of Department of Computer Sc. & Engineering, Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology (Degree Wing), Sector -26, Chandigarh organized a 2 day Programming Hackathon event for learning logical aspects of coding known as “Hour of Code” under ACM ( Association of Computing machinery) at CCET-degree wing college campus itself on 23-24 Nov. 2015.

Prof.( Dr.) M. S. Gujral principal, pleased and acknowledge the effort of ACM student chapter of CSE department to organized “Hour of Code: A Programming Hackathon”

Dr Sunil Kr Singh HOD & mentor ACM student chapter welcome all participated students from all branches. He told such event prove to develop high interest of students in programming skill which will be a huge beneficial for the students in overall academic growth.

In this event, students of all the four streams – CSE, ECE, Civil and Mechanical took part in the event. Total of 53 students participated in the event. The “Hour of Code: A Programming Hackathon” contained 8 interactive tutorials in different computer languages for students to solved given problem online and at the end, a certificate of completion was awarded to all the students.

Department of Computer Sc. & Engineering, Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology (Degree Wing), Sector -26, Chandigarh is started ACM@CCET Student chapter and organized one day seminar on Cloud Computing & Big Data Analytics on 6th Nov 2015 at CCET (Degree Wing) campus, Sector -26, Chandigarh.
The newly created ACM@CCET Student chapter was officially inaugurated by chief guest Dr. Mukesh Mohania , Global Chief Architect, IBM Research, India & Treasurer of ACM India, Prof.( Dr.) M. S. Gujral, Principal, CCET(Deg. Wing.) Chandigarh and Dr Sunil K Singh, Professor & HOD , CSE Deptt.
Dr. Mukesh Mohania gave a wonderful, interactive and motivation-cum-informative seminar on Big Data and Cloud Computing by teaching the roots of their existence and their scope in coming time. A 10-20 mins Q/A session was held after the session. After the lunch break, Dr. Mukesh, Dr. Sunil and all the ACM@CCET members had around the table discussion on various opportunities for the CSE students to learn scientific and practical approach of computer science under ACM students chapter.
In the inauguration ceremony, Prof.( Dr.) M. S. Gujral, pleased and acknowledge the effort of CSE department to most awaited Programming and Computing student chapter in connection with ACM ( Association of Computing machinery) at CCET, Chandigarh. Dr Gujral highlighted the various benefits of ACM and told ACM provides unique outlook on how current and emerging technologies are being useful in day to day life. ACM has evolved as an interactive intellectual association of likewise mind bridging the gap between academics and practitioners of the art of Computer Science. The aim of ACM can only be achieved by taking lead role in computing by computer science student of CCET to transfer their knowledge into implementation based expertise. He thanks Dr Mukesh Mohania for inauguration of ACM student chapter and giving seminar on Cloud Computing & Big Data Analytics to the CCET students.
Dr Sunil Kr Singh HOD CSE highlighted the ACM student chapter objective in his speech and told that the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is an international learned society for computing and It was founded in 1947. Dr Singh told that ACM provides a platform to sustain close academic and research alliance between higher education institutions and research organization from globe to facilitate the innovation, collaboration and knowledge for achieving excellence in all academics activities. The study of computation is paramount to the discipline of computer science and ACM itself is solely dedicated to COMPUTING.
Dr Singh expects that this initiation will prove to be highly beneficial for the students in overall academic growth. Through this student chapter, they will have an opportunity to interact with the experts of Computer Science Industry from all over the world. It will provide them a means to portray their talent and innovation to the world. He thanked to Dr Mukesh Mohania for helping to start this student chapter in alliance with ACM and request to provide similar learning opportunity to CCET students in future also.

One Week ICT Based FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (FDP-2015) ON E-GOVERNANCE IN TECHNICAL INSTITUTIONS FROM 27th to 31st July 2015.

Department of Computer Sc. & Engineering, Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology (Degree Wing), Sector -26, Chandigarh is successfully organized One Week ICT based Faculty Development Programme (FDP- 2015) on E-GOVERNANCE IN TECHNICAL INSTITUTIONS with the support of NITTTR, Chandigarh through video conferencing from 27th to 31st July 2015 at CCET (Degree Wing) campus, Sector -26, Chandigarh.
In the FDP closing ceremony, Prof.( Dr.) M. S. Gujral, Principal, CCET(Deg. Wing.) Chandigarh, Dr Sunil K Singh, HOD, CSE department, professors, faculty members and esteemed participants were presented during the closing and valediction function of one week FDP.
Prof.( Dr.) M. S. Gujral, congratulated all the participants for successfully participation of one week FDP and such type of FDPs gives confidence to the faculty members to transfer their knowledge into the implementation of E-governance in their respective departments. Dr Gural also highlighted that the basic objective of this ICT based FDP programme is to orient the participants and impart knowledge to them on planning and implementing E-governance initiatives in various academic process for effective & real time monitoring by various partners.

In this FDP, total 13 expert talks and sessions have been taken by various eminent experts through video conference from NITTTR Chandigarh.
Dr Singh thanked to NITTTR Chandigarh and request to provide similar learning opportunity to all faculty in future also.

INFOSYS One Week Faculty Development Programme (FDP-2015) on Big Data & Analytics from 21st to 25th October 2015

Department of Computer Sc. & Engineering, Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology (Degree Wing), Sector - 26, Chandigarh is organizing Faculty Development Programme (FDP-2015) on Big Data & Analytics with Infosys Ltd. from 21st to 25th September 2015 at CCET (Degree Wing) campus, Sector -26, Chandigarh.
The FDP ceremony was officially inaugurated by Prof.( Dr.) M. S. Gujral, Principal, CCET(Deg. Wing.) Chandigarh, Dr. Manoj Manuja, Principal, Education & Research, Infosys Ltd., Chandigarh and Dr Sunil K Singh, Professor & HOD , CSE Deptt.
Prof.( Dr.) M. S. Gujral, pleased and acknowledge the effort of Infosys Ltd for taking lead role in various technological development . Dr Gujral highlighted the importance of the skill based knowledge to all engineering faculty members so that they can provide skill and research based academic environment for overall development of students. Such type of FDPs gives confidence to faculty to transfer their knowledge into implementation based expertise. He also highlighted the importance of Big Data which become a new emerging term to describe large datasets that are challenging to store, search, share, visualize, and analyze. It would be great to learn about Effective management and analysis of the Big Data would bring great benefits and unique opportunities to all of us. He thanked to Infosys Ltd for conducting FDP at CCET(Deg. Wing.) Chandigarh and also thanked to all engineering faculty members who came from various north India institutes.
Dr Sunil Kr Singh, Convenor, FDP 2015 highlighted the course objective and welcome Ms. Kamljeet kaur and Mr Rishav Singh ( both Senor member in Education, Infosys Ltd. Chandigarh) who have been very actively associated with this initiative and without their cooperation organizing this program, in this highly specialized are would not have been possible.
Dr Singh told that this course culminates with a project that challenges faculties to design, implement, and demonstrate the various Big data concepts. It also the objective of this FDP that after the successful completion course, faculty will become well versed with BIG DATA concept so that they can then take this course back to their students as an expert to enhance students knowledge.

Web Development Workshop

One Day Skill Based Learning Workshop On PHP and Content Management System (CMS) for 2nd year CSE students on 15th April 2015.

Department of Computer Sc. & Engineering, Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology (Degree Wing), Sector -26, Chandigarh organized a one day workshop on “PHP and Content Management System(CMS)” in collaboration with National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Chandigarh on 15th April 2015.
The workshop ceremony was officially inaugurated by Prof.( Dr.) M. S. Gujral, Principal, CCET(Deg. Wing.) Chandigarh and Ms. Anita Budhiraja(Deputy Director, NIELIT, Chd). Prof.( Dr.) M. S. Gujral, echoed the skill based learning to all engineering graduate that transferred their knowledge into implementation based expertise. He also highlighted the change of working environment and the high-speed growth of information and communication technologies. Student’s knowledge and skills need continuous updating with this growth. He thanked to NIELIT Chandigarh for joining hands with CCET(Deg. Wing.) for providing skill based training on various latest technologies like Android Apps, Cyber security, Content management system(CMS) tools, Mobile application etc to all engineering graduate in coming times.
Ms. Anita Budhiraja(Deputy Director, NIELIT, Chd) has informed the student audience about various NIELIT initiative like technical skilled development, e-Literacy and Capacity building through training and workshops. She thanks Dr. Gujral for provide the opportunity to organized workshop in CCET (Degree Wing),Chd and ensure that these types of workshops will also be held in near future. The speakers ,Ms Jyoti Sharma and Mr Sahil Narang form NIELIT, Chandigarh, took a detailed session on PHP and give a deep practical experience on word press CMS tools to help students in understanding the conceptual importance of PHP and Word press in web designing.
In the Valedictory Function, Dr. Manish Arora (Joint Director, NIELIT, Chd) joined the workshop and appreciated the huge participation and students interest in skill based learning on latest technology. Dr. Manish and Dr Gujral distributed the certificate to all participants.
The workshop is huge success as far as the feedback of students and expert persons are considered. This workshop is coordinated by Dr Sunil K Singh, Professor & HOD, Computer Sc. & Engineering, CCET(Degree Wing),Chd. Dr Singh thanks all the participants and highlighted that this workshop is intended for the computer sc. & engineering students which gave the ample knowledge and direction in web designing. designing
